Around 25 km of cleared winter hiking trails invite you to explore the Großarltal on foot, partly along the Ache river and partly uphill on the numerous farm tracks, all at a leisurely pace. At the destination, a cozy stop usually awaits with a hearty snack, a hot mulled wine, or the famously notorious Jägertee. Going downhill is often faster, because anyone who didn’t leave their sledge at home can end their walk with a fun sled ride. Of course, there’s an even easier way: uphill by taxi to a hearty mountain hut evening and downhill with the sledge. But beware: accidents are not covered.

For everyone who enjoys a fun evening tobogganing, the Hotel Lammwirt offers a lit, traffic-free sleigh run. You can go up on foot or by taxi minibus. Toboggan rental is available directly at Hotel Lammwirt.

Evening sled rides with the local taxi operators are always especially popular. Up the mountain to the various snack stations and mountain inns, you go in nimble all-wheel-drive minibuses. It usually gets really fun on the way down in the moonlight or in the glow of torches, lanterns, or flashlights.
