During winter, the region is fully dedicated to alpine sports. The Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski area is not only considered one of the most modern and best-equipped in the whole country, but is also continuously investing in the newest technologies to make your vacation as pleasurable as possible. The region is not only perfect for skiiers, carvers and snowboarders, but also cross-country skiiers and hikers can fully take advantage of the region's offerings - there's something here for everyone.
The ski area conatins 20 modern lifts with a transport capacity of around 30,000 people per hour; 80 km (50 miles) of beautifully prepared slopes of varying difficulties allow skiiers of all levels a variety of options.
Cross-Country
For those who prefer cross-country to downhill skiing, the Großarltal region offers 30 km (24 mile) of well-prepared tracks.
For Non-Skiiers
Großarltal offers many other activities which don't require skis. Enjoy "Advent in the Mountains" with rides to the Christmas markets, advent games and traditional music, viewing manger displays or seeing St. Nicholas or Krampus (his devilish helper). Have fun with ice-skating, bavarian curling, hiking (day or night), snowshoeing or sledding during the day or at night on well-lit toboggan runs. Relax and enjoy a sleigh-ride or one of the many spa and wellness options.
